Started in 1968 by the Darjeeling Forest Department, Darjeeling Ropeway crosses over-dense forests, lush green fields, tea gardens, mountain ridges, waterfalls, and green valleys. It started with just one ropeway car and now boasts of 16 cars running to and fro.
The ropeway experience is a lifetime experience to remember where one can see how beautiful Darjeeling is in the aerial view. The ropeway is operational daily from Monday to Sunday, however, closed on the 19th of every month for maintenance. Ticket booking usually sees a rush and the waiting board to board a cable car during peak season can reach up to 60 minutes thus it is advisable to plan the ropeway ride beforehand.
